Meta is facing mounting scrutiny in India after the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology sought a response from CEO Mark Zuckerberg over the removal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's video from Facebook.
According to sources, Meta has been given three days to explain the incident. The development comes after Meta's Global Public Policy Head Joel Kaplan was summoned for the second time this week, while Instagram's technical officials also met government representatives. Sources say the government wants a detailed explanation of how Meta's algorithms function and how content moderation decisions are made.
