Madras HC Seeks Reply on Plea to Stop 'Kandoori Festival' At Tirupparankundram Hill

A fresh legal battle has emerged over the conduct of the Kandoori festival at Tirupparankundram Hill, with a writ petition filed before the Madras High Court seeking to block the event scheduled for January 6. The petitioner, claiming to be a devotee of Lord Murugan, has urged the court to restrain the dargah administration from holding the festival at the hilltop, citing earlier court orders prohibiting animal sacrifice at the site. The plea follows heightened tensions during a recent festival at the hill, which saw protests by Hindu groups even as rituals were carried out with participation from devotees of multiple faiths.
