LPU Jalandhar Protests | Students Protest 'Rape By Worker', Police Call It 'Rumour'

Protests at Lovely Professional University in Punjab turned violent after students gathered over unverified claims that a female student was allegedly raped and later died by suicide. Students vandalised parts of the campus, set sections of a building on fire and blocked the Jalandhar-Phagwara highway. Kapurthala SSP Gaurav Toora said police had received no report of any rape incident and described the situation as a possible misunderstanding. LPU called the social media claims false and misleading and urged students to remain calm.
