The first phase of the 18th Lok Sabha elections have concluded with 65.4 % voter turnout as compared to the 70% turnout recorded in 2019. This is because several states have seen a dip in voter turnout. Tamil Nadu saw a 2% dip in turnout while Assam and Chhattisgarh recorded a higher turnout than in 2019. Manipur turnout dropped 10%, which could be seen both as a drawback or positive considering the months of ethnic strife in the state.
