Activist Sonam Wangchuk said, "From today, the 9th of August till 12th of August, a protest has been called by the Kargil Democratic alliance in Kargil in association with the Leh Apex Body together and this is mainly because the talks that were going on between the center and Ladakhi leaders, have come to a stall. It is not progressing...The two most important tissues, which were restoration of democracy and safeguards under the Sixth Schedule, have not even been discussed in the last five years of talks...To express their dismay, people of Ladakh, led by the KDA and APEX Body, are holding this demonstration in Kargil.
