Kerala bets on domestic tourists

Economic slowdown is now a global phenomenon and Indian tourism is also feeling the pinch of it. But the god's own country, Kerala has a different strategy in mind and instead of foreign tourists it is eyeing the great Indian middle class by offering them highly discounted packages. "It's definitely going to put pressure on margins for those in the travel industry, but it's the market's call," said M Sivasankar, Director, Kerala Tourism.
