A group of Karnataka Congress lawmakers - who have publicly backed DK Shivakumar in his ongoing power tussle with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah - has landed in Delhi a day before the rumoured power-sharing 'agreement' between the two leaders expires.
Officially, the lawmakers are on a business trip tied to work with the Department of Agriculture. However, the presence of several MLAs from the politically influential Vokkaliga community - to which Shivakumar belongs - has raised eyebrows.
Adding to the speculation is the timing: November 20 marks the halfway point of Siddaramaiah's term.
According to the alleged 'agreement' brokered to end a post-election standoff over the Chief Minister's post - a dispute that nearly derailed the Congress' 2023 victory - Siddaramaiah was expected to step down at this stage, paving the way for DK Shivakumar to serve as Chief Minister for the remainder of the government's term.
