Political temperatures are soaring across southern India, with major developments unfolding simultaneously in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. In Karnataka, speculation over a leadership transition intensified after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah returned from Delhi following crucial meetings with the Congress high command. Sources indicate the party leadership may be preparing for a transition in favour of Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, though supporters of Siddaramaiah have begun gathering outside his residence demanding he continue in office. Congress leaders remain tight-lipped, while the BJP has accused the ruling party of allowing governance to suffer because of the prolonged power tussle. Meanwhile in Tamil Nadu, political instability inside the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam continues after multiple MLAs resigned amid an internal revolt against party chief Edappadi K. Palaniswami. At the same time, Chief Minister Vijay arrived in Delhi for high-level meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to push Tamil Nadu’s demands on education funds, metro rail projects, NEET exemption and fertiliser allocation. In Kerala, tensions escalated after the Enforcement Directorate conducted searches linked to allegations involving Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s daughter in the CMRL case. The raids triggered protests by CPM workers outside the residence, while the BJP defended the action and the Congress demanded answers over alleged financial irregularities.
