Kailash Yatra To Resume Through Nathu La Pass After 5 Years, PM Likely To Visit Sikkim

The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra, a religious pilgrimage undertaken by the Hindus to Mount Kailash and Manasarovar Lake in the Tibetan autonomous region of China, will resume through the Nathu La Pass in Sikkim after a gap of five years. The development comes as Sikkim marks 50 years of statehood. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to take part in the 50 years of statehood celebrations on May 29, sources told NDTV earlier. The Yatra was suspended initially in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and did not resume earlier of the military standoff between India and China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.
