Japan Earthquake | 7.4 Quake Hits Japan; Tsunami Waves Recorded, Evacuations Near Fukushima

A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck northern Japan, triggering tsunami waves along the coast. An 80-centimetre wave was recorded at Kuji port in Iwate, with authorities warning that larger waves may follow. Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi urged residents to move to higher ground, as officials advised continued vigilance for aftershocks and possible landslides. Evacuations were reported in areas near the Fukushima Daini nuclear power plant.
