Iran War Latest Updates: US, Iran To Hold 2nd Round Of Talks In Pakistan Today

Iran and the United States are set to hold a second round of talks in Islamabad as Pakistan continues mediation efforts amid a fragile Middle East ceasefire. US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected in Pakistan, while Iran is represented by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, though Tehran says no direct negotiations with the US are planned. The talks follow the extension of the Iran-Hezbollah ceasefire and come after the first round in April ended without progress over disputes on Iran’s nuclear program, the Strait of Hormuz, and Israel’s war in Lebanon. The US has also increased military presence in the region with a third aircraft carrier and fresh sanctions on Iranian oil-linked networks.
