Greenland's Minister N. Nathanielsen has issued a firm and unequivocal rejection of any possibility of United States ownership or control over Greenland, asserting that the island's future will be decided solely by its own people. Speaking exclusively to NDTV, Nathanielsen said Greenland has, for years, clearly communicated its position - that it wishes to remain part of the Kingdom of Denmark and has no desire to become American.
Addressing growing geopolitical interest in the Arctic, the Greenland minister welcomed increased European and NATO military presence in the region, describing it as both necessary and beneficial. She explained that enhanced monitoring of Greenland's vast coastline serves dual purposes - strengthening security while also supporting civilian needs such as maritime safety and environmental surveillance. Nathanielsen added that Greenland would also be open to more permanent NATO installations if required.
