"If there's a loss which the farmers are going through, the government needs to provide them with adequate subsidiaries. The government's policy is to make farmers leave farming and rather have companies do farming. The only thing government is concerned about is getting votes," said Rakesh Tikait, Bhartiya Kisan Union, spokesperson on farmers' distress amid the crash in onion prices.
