US President Joe Biden on Wednesday hailed a "good day for democracy" after a surprisingly strong performance in midterm elections with Republicans inching toward a slim majority in only one chamber of Congress. Biden acknowledged voters' frustration but said the "overwhelming majority" of Americans supported his economic agenda after Tuesday's election in which Republicans hammered him over stubbornly high inflation and some questioned the legitimacy of his election two years ago.
