The violence and the subsequent incompetence of the security agencies is causing a strain on the relationship between the BJP and its allies. As the number of dead in Delhi's violence rose, the government faced criticism from its allies in the National Democratic Alliance. Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan of the LJP and his son Chirag Paswan spoke out strongly against the violence.
