Curfew Lifts In Downtown LA After Nights Of Unrest Following Trump's Immigration Crackdown

Curfew was lifted on downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday (June 11) morning as the Californian city seeks to quell five days of unrest. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass imposed an overnight curfew downtown, following unrest in the city after U.S. President Donald Trump's immigration raids. The Mayor imposed curfew, saying businesses were being vandalised and looted due to the unrest. The Trump administration on Monday ordered Marines into Los Angeles and intensified raids on suspected undocumented immigrants, fueling more outrage from street protesters and Democratic leaders who raised concerns over a national crisis. Hundreds of U.S. Marines were undergoing refresher training in riot and crowd control, just outside of Los Angeles and will move into the city soon. The protests are likely to expand on Saturday, when several activist groups have planned hundreds of anti-Trump demonstrations across the country.
