Unhappy with both UDF and LDF in the state, the Church in Kerala has decided to contest this year's Lok Sabha election. The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church has decided to field Independent candidates in four constituencies for the elections. This is the first time that the Church, which has pockets of influence in some of the constituencies, would be fielding its candidates. The decision was taken as the church felt the successive LDF and UDF governments failed to consider the problems of the church so far.
