Domestic Car Sales Decline 8.4% In December; Production Down 12.5%: SIAM | Read

Total passenger car sales in the domestic market fell 8.4 per cent in December, data from industry body SIAM or Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers showed on Friday. Sales of passenger vehicles - including passenger cars, utility vehicles and vans - declined 1.2 per cent to 235,786 units in December, the data showed. Out of these, a total of 142,126 passenger cars were sold during the month, as against 155,159 in December 2018. This is the second straight month of declines for passenger vehicles after a minor uptick in October.
