The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) kicked off its statewide outreach campaign, “Jana Ashirvad Yatra,” on February 28 as part of preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma flagged off the campaign at Gupteshwar Devalaya in Dhekiajuli, offering prayers before addressing a massive crowd of supporters. The yatra aims to directly connect with the people of Assam, highlighting the government’s developmental achievements and welfare initiatives. Roads were lined with enthusiastic crowds, traditional Assamese gamusas, and cultural performances as the rally passed through Dhekiajuli and surrounding constituencies. Assam BJP State President Dilip Saikia said the campaign intends to reach nearly 1 lakh people daily, covering 34 Assembly constituencies in its first phase from February 28 to March 9. The initiative saw participation from senior leaders, including Rajya Sabha MP Pabitra Margherita, Lok Sabha MPs Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and Dilip Saikia, along with BJP Yuva Morcha leaders and over 1,000 party workers. The campaign continues to expand across Assam, with constituencies such as Jagiroad, Morigaon, Raha, Nagaon, and Barhampur scheduled for coverage next.
