Abhishek Banerjee Seeks More Time In Signature Forgery Probe, Moves Calcutta HC

Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee has sought more time to appear before the CID in connection with the alleged Vidhan Sabha signature forgery case. In a letter to investigators, Banerjee said he has approached the Calcutta High Court seeking relief and requested that further action be deferred until the matter is heard on June 10. The case stems from complaints filed by rebel TMC leaders Rita Banerjee and Sandeeppan Saha, who alleged that an official party resolution submitted during the leadership dispute in the Assembly was fabricated and contained forged signatures. Following the complaint, the matter was handed over to the CID, which subsequently summoned Abhishek Banerjee for questioning. The development comes at a time when the Trinamool Congress is already grappling with internal dissent and political turbulence.
