'28 Years On, Fire Safety Still Not Taken Seriously': Uphaar Activist On Goa Fire
Neelam Krishnamoorthy, President, Association of the Victims of Uphaar Tragedy
told NDTV that every new fire disaster triggers "a painful sense of repeat pain," saying "nothing has changed in the last 28 years." She said she feels "defeated" because fire safety in India is still not taken seriously, despite repeated tragedies. Krishnamoorthy said owners continue to flout norms while authorities fail to enforce them, proving "we have no value of human life in our country."
