What if you could travel from Mumbai to Dubai in just two hours? The possibility of this dream coming true doesn't seem too far away. A groundbreaking project proposes a high-speed underwater train connecting Mumbai and Dubai. The locomotive would travel at speeds of 600-1,000 km/h, making it faster than many conventional flights.

The train is reportedly being designed to travel beneath the Arabian Sea to facilitate faster travel and transportation between the two countries. According to a video shared on Instagram, "The Deep Blue Express is actually being built right now, connecting India and the UAE through the Arabian Sea... this train travels between 600 and 1,000 km per hour, which is faster than most aeroplanes".

The narrator added, "What makes it even more mind-blowing is that they're building panoramic windows into the tunnel walls. Imagine cruising 200 metres below the Arabian Sea while massive sharks, whales and schools of fish swim past you. It's like travelling inside the world's longest aquarium at supersonic speeds".

The underwater tunnel project has a dual purpose. It will transport passengers as well as facilitate the transportation of crude oil from Dubai to India and fresh water from India to Dubai. With the budget exceeding $50 billion, the project is expected to generate over 50,000 jobs, transform Mumbai into a global hub and reduce travel costs between India and the UAE by nearly 60 per cent.

Once completed, the underwater train is expected to reduce travel time between Mumbai and Dubai to just two hours-a significant reduction compared with the typical 3-3.5-hour flight. While the exact timeline for the underwater rail link has not been finalised, discussions are underway between India and the UAE to move forward with its implementation.
