If you're tired of standing in long queues at airport entry gates and check-in counters, India's Digi Yatra app might just be your new travel essential. Designed to simplify and speed up the passenger journey at Indian airports, Digi Yatra brings facial recognition technology into play, making travel more seamless and contactless. So next time you book a domestic flight, consider trying Digi Yatra. It's quick, easy to set up, and could transform how you travel forever.
What is Digi Yatra?
Launched by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Digi Yatra is a biometric-enabled digital processing system that allows air travellers to pass through various checkpoints at airports using facial recognition instead of physical IDs or boarding passes. Currently available at major airports like Delhi, Varanasi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai (with more to come), it's a part of India's vision to create smart airports.
The app is available for both Android and iOS and is completely voluntary, meaning you can still travel the traditional way if you prefer.
