- The train will run weekly with overnight journeys on Tuesdays in both directions
- It will stop at 11 stations across eastern Uttar Pradesh, improving regional connectivity
Rail passengers travelling between Delhi and eastern Uttar Pradesh may soon have another affordable long-distance train option. The Railway Board (RB) has approved a new Amrit Bharat Express service connecting Delhi and Gorakhpur, adding to the growing list of trains under the Amrit Bharat category. These trains are being positioned as budget-friendly alternatives that still offer a modern travel experience, especially for passengers from lower and lower-middle income groups.
A New Delhi-Gorakhpur Link In The Works
According to an official communication dated April 27, 2026, the Railway Board confirmed the approval of the service. The letter stated, “Ministry of Railways approves introduction of Gorakhpur-Delhi Amrit Bharat Express,” as per the Indian Express.
The train is expected to improve connectivity between Gorakhpur and the national capital, especially for passengers travelling regularly for work, studies and family visits.
At present, one Amrit Bharat Express already passes through Gorakhpur as part of the Anand Vihar Terminal-Darbhanga route. With this new service, Gorakhpur will now get a direct Amrit Bharat connection with Delhi as well.
