Booking flights for your dream vacation can be painfully expensive. Weekends, festivities, holidays, and travel seasons tend to burn a bigger hole in your pocket. On such occasions, passengers often have to reluctantly book red-eye flights that depart at night and arrive the next morning. While they are often cheaper, they are not known to be comfortable. The lack of proper sleep, a change in routine and untimely meals tend to put off travellers. But it doesn't always have to be a negative experience. Recently, a traveller couple posted a video on Instagram, sharing some smart tips and tricks for those planning to take a red-eye flight. In the clip, Isabel and Sentry Kelly talked about six important factors that helped them perfect the art of surviving red-eye flights.

6 Tips For Travellers Planning To Take A Red-Eye Flight:

1. Pre-Flight Prep

Wake up early on the journey date by setting your alarm 1 hour in advance. Skip the coffee, but make sure to do some light exercise for movement, even if it's a short walk.

2. Packing

It is important to bring only the carry-on luggage as they feel that "the less time you spend at the airport, the better off you are." If you are travelling with someone, try to fit both your clothes inside the two compartments of your trolley to save space.

3. Personal Items

The couple also detailed some of the personal items they like to bring on a vacation. These include noise-cancelling headphones/earplugs, eye masks, neck pillows, travel blankets, OTC sleep aid, Bluetooth headphone connector, portable power bank, some snacks and water.

4. What To Wear

The travel-loving pair emphasised the need to wear hooded sweaters during the flight journey for extra comfort and to keep the chills at bay. Isabel further advised to pack house slippers to feel at ease while using the washroom.

5. On The Flight

Since it would be a night-long journey, Isabel and Sentry Kelly discouraged having alcohol to beat the hangover. "Skip meal services as interrupting your sleep is the biggest mistake you can make on a red-eye," they suggested.

6. On Arrival

As soon as you land, freshen up well to feel recharged before stepping out of the airport. According to the coup, proper hydration or drinking "1L in the first couple of hours after landing", is non-negotiable. Thereafter, grab a cup of warm coffee for stimulation.
