Sinai Peninsula, The Sacred Egyptian Destination, Will Soon Have A Luxury Mega Resort

Mount Sinai, located in the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt, is soon to welcome tourists in the area. Locals believe that the place, also known as Jabal Musa, has a sacred significance. Legend has it that the Hebrew prophet Moses received the Ten Commandments (a set of ten biblical laws) from God at Mount Sinai. The place is home to the revered 6th-century St Catherine's Monastery, with the Jebeleya tribe acting as the Monastery's 'Guardians'. 

Now, the Egyptian government has decided to construct a luxury mega resort in the area as part of the Great Transfiguration Project. The initiative, launched in 2021, aims to boost Mount Sinai's tourism. According to a report by the BBC, the project plans to establish luxury hotels, villas and shopping areas in the Sinai Peninsula, transforming the destination into a major tourist attraction.

The construction of the mega-resort includes a cable car to Mount Sinai, a new visitor centre, eco-lodges and expanded airport facilities. The Great Transfiguration Project is a sustainable development initiative, as claimed by the Egyptian government, that would not only enhance tourism but also improve the local infrastructure. The objective is to create a modern tourist hub while still preserving the spiritual heritage of St Catherine's Monastery and Mount Sinai.
