Indian Railways doubled loop line speeds from 15 to 30 km/h in Jhansi Division, cutting travel time nearly by half. This upgrade on Veerangana Laxmibai Jhansi-Mahoba section improves punctuality and eases rail traffic flow
The Indian Railways has announced a major boost for rail passengers in the Jhansi Division. Following a speed boost on the loop lines, travel time on the division is set to be reduced by nearly half. This move came after the speed on several loop lines was doubled across the division. It is expected to benefit passengers by enabling them to reach their destinations faster.
As per the divisional officials, the speed on loop lines has been upgraded from 15 km/h to 30 km/h. This upgrade affects multiple stations, specifically Kulpahar, Charkhari Road, Teharka and Ranipur Road, which are all located on the Veerangana Laxmibai Jhansi-Mahoba section. The speed enhancement is expected to ease rail traffic between the Jhansi and Mahoba sections, reported CNBC TV18.
"Continuous steps are being taken in the division to reduce travel time," said the division's DRM, Anirudh Kumar.

Under the previous arrangement, trains transitioning to loop lines were required to significantly reduce their speed. This often resulted in delays to their scheduled arrival and departure times. However, with the loop-line speed being doubled, ordinary trains will now be able to traverse through loop sections at a much faster pace. It ensures punctuality at each of the stations that have been upgraded.
Even in cases where mail and express trains, including premium services like the Vande Bharat Express or Rajdhani Express, are using the main line, other trains routed to loop lines will no longer be forced to move at a slow 15 km/h. Instead, they will be able to maintain a speed of 30 km/h.
This change eliminates the need for trains to wait in the queue for the loop line to clear. Furthermore, the faster clearance of loop tracks will contribute to a more streamlined traffic flow on both the main and loop lines.

Indian Railways said that this development is a part of a broader, nationwide effort, where loop-line track upgrades are currently being undertaken at numerous stations. The move will progressively enhance rail traffic efficiency and decrease travel times.
