The Pokémon franchise is celebrating its monumental 30th anniversary in 2026. To commemorate the occasion, Japan's All Nippon Airways has unveiled two brand-new Pokémon-themed aircraft - the "Pokémon Jet Red" and "Pokémon Jet Green". The airline announced the news in a post shared on X. The caption read, "The wait is officially OVER! ANA is celebrating 30 years of Pokémon with TWO brand new special livery aircraft: the "Pokémon Jet Red" and "Pokémon Jet Green"!"

The Jet Red aircraft's exterior features fire-type starters from across the series, including Charmander, Cyndaquil, Chimchar, Tepig, Scorbunny, Fuecoco, and the newly revealed Pombo from Pokémon Waves. This plane will operate on domestic routes aboard a Boeing 787-8.

On the other hand, the Jet Green Boeing 787-9 is decorated with grass-type starters, including Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Treecko, Turtwig, Snivy, Chespin, Rowlet, Grookey, Sprigatito, and the newly introduced character, Browt from Pokémon Winds. This aircraft is planned for international routes.

No Pokémon collab is complete without Pikachu. He's front and centre on both aircraft designs, so you won't miss him, whichever plane you fly. In addition to the fresh paint jobs, each plane gets its own limited-edition cups, cocktail napkins and headrest covers matched to its colours and starter types. ANA confirmed the planes will also have special in-flight music connected to the theme.

The aircrafts will enter service in July 2026, flying from Tokyo Haneda to Sapporo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Okinawa, Kagoshima, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Ishigaki.

The timing isn't a coincidence. In the same month, the world's first Pokemon-themed airport will launch in Japan. The limited-time attraction will replace Noto Satoyama Airport in Ishikawa Prefecture as “Noto Satoyama Pokemon With You Airport” until September 2029. Travellers will be able to spot all 111 Flying-type Pokemon, barring regional variants and Mega forms, around the airport.

Visitors will also get to witness themed decorations across the airport's entrance, boarding bridges, walls and signs. One of the main attractions is a huge second-floor atrium centrepiece featuring a giant floating Pikachu and aeroplane balloon, surrounded by Flying-types soaring overhead.
