Delhi is set to launch its much-awaited double-decker tourist buses, introducing a new way for residents and visitors to experience the capital's most important landmarks. The service aims to make sightseeing smoother and more structured by linking Lutyens Delhi, the Central Vista, and several major cultural destinations into a single circuit. Officials have said that the first buses will become operational around 20 February, coinciding with the government's anniversary, and the initiative marks the return of the city's iconic double-deckers in a modern electric form.
The buses will run from the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya and are intended to give travellers a curated, elevated, and more comfortable view of national monuments.

How Much Is The Fare For Delhi's Double Decker Bus Tour
The Delhi government has kept the fare structure accessible for families, students and travellers.
- Rs 500 for adults
- Rs 300 for children aged six to twelve
The ticket includes a guided tour, with commentary provided by an onboard guide who will explain the cultural and historical significance of each landmark.

The sightseeing circuit has been designed to cover a mix of heritage sites, cultural spaces and modern institutions across central Delhi.

- Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya
- Bharat Mandapam
- National War Memorial
- New Parliament Complex
- Kartavya Path
- Dilli Haat
Officials stated that the buses can operate comfortably in Lutyens Delhi without issues related to low wires or tree canopies.
What To Expect On Board
The first phase will have two double-decker buses, along with additional electric buses handed over to the tourism department through a CSR initiative. These buses were initially stationed at the Okhla depot before being transferred for tourism service.

Day And Evening Tours
Both daytime and evening circuits are planned. The evening tour is expected to begin after the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya closes at 6 pm, allowing visitors to experience illuminated monuments along the Central Vista. Officials have said that the night route has been largely finalised, with timings to be announced before the formal launch.
