Driven by sheer wanderlust, travel vlogger Ankita Kumar embarked on one such unconventional exploration. She visited one of the most unique caves at Hormuz Island in Iran, and safe to say, was not disappointed. Would you believe that this one-of-a-kind cave grows what looks like hair? The travel enthusiast shared her extraordinary experience on Instagram.

The clip opens with the vlogger entering the spooky-looking, rugged and jagged cave. She wades through the waters, adjusts her body into the tight space and crawls inside. She is accompanied by her travel guide, Behyar Bahmani Qeshm. Equipped with only torch lights, the duo navigates through dark alleys and narrow passageways. The speleothem formations shine brightly “like a rainbow,” claims Ankita as she continues to climb seven floors up to witness the strange and “creepy” hair formations with her own eyes. She reveals that the cave is millions of years old.
Once the vlogger reaches the spot, she is taken aback by chunks of hair clinging to the damp walls. “It's super smelly,” she admits before touching the hair to confirm whether it's real. On her way out, the globetrotter reveals that with the help of her expert guide, she was able to cover the 2-hour exploration in just 40 minutes.

Explaining the science behind the “Hairy Cave,” also known as “Ghar-e Mooyi”, one person shared, “It gets its name from the unique mineral formations that resemble hanging strands of hair or wool. These “hair-like” formations are actually mineral deposits, mostly salt and other sediments, created by years of water seepage through the cave walls.”
“Simply watching you inside the cave makes me feel claustrophobic,” confessed an individual.
“My fantasy mind says: it's a creature, frozen or cursed. It may awaken someday in the future,” joked someone else.
“Found any dragon eggs?” read a hilarious remark.
