As India's railway network continues to expand with new routes and faster connectivity, Gujarat's border district of Kutch is now set to get a direct new rail link to the national capital. Western Railway is preparing to launch a new train service connecting Bhuj and Delhi, a move that has been awaited by passengers in the region for a long time. As per News On AIR, the new service will officially begin on Friday, when Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flags off the train. The new rail service is also likely to reduce pressure on the already running Bhuj-Bareilly and Bhuj-Delhi Sarai Rohilla trains, which often see heavy passenger demand.

The launch comes at a time when the Ministry of Railways has been focusing on expanding connectivity across different states.

A few days ago, a new bi-weekly express train between Bengaluru and Mumbai was introduced to improve travel between Karnataka and Maharashtra. The inaugural run of the service was virtually flagged off by Ashwini Vaishnaw on May 17. That train will connect major regions, including Bengaluru, Hubballi-Dharwad, Belagavi, Pune and Mumbai, and will be operated by South Western Railway. Railway officials had said the new route was introduced to provide passengers with an additional direct rail option between the two states.
