What if you could own a piece of Paris? No, not a postcard, not a fridge magnet, but an actual part of one of the most famous monuments in the world? That's exactly what's about to happen. In a rare and almost unbelievable moment for collectors and history lovers, a genuine section of the Eiffel Tower will be auctioned on May 21, 2026.
The sale is being organised by Artcurial, and it's already creating buzz across the world.
You Can Own A Piece Of The Eiffel Tower
A piece of the original spiral staircase from the Eiffel Tower is all set to be auctioned off. This section dates back to 1889, the year the Eiffel Tower was first revealed to the world. And yes, you can actually own it.
The structure is 2.75 metres tall, made of riveted steel, and has 14 steps. It once connected the second and third levels of the tower. Imagine the number of people who must have climbed those steps over a century ago!
Built under the supervision of Gustave Eiffel himself, this staircase is living history.
The Eiffel Tower was originally built for the Exposition Universelle of 1889 and was only meant to last 20 years. But instead of being dismantled, it became one of the most loved landmarks in the world.

Fast forward to 1983, when, during a major upgrade, new lifts were installed, and parts of the original staircase were removed. Instead of throwing them away, 20 sections were auctioned off. This particular piece was Lot No. 1 from that historic sale and has been carefully preserved in a private collection for over 40 years. It was even restored by experts who maintain the Eiffel Tower today.
A Treasure That Costs A Fortune
The estimated cost of the staircase is between €120,000 and €150,000, which is roughly ₹1–1.3 crore. But past auctions have gone way higher, with one section sold for over €500,000. So if you're planning to bid, be ready for a serious price jump. Owning a piece of the Eiffel Tower puts you in a very exclusive club. Some staircase sections are already placed in stunning locations, like near the Statue of Liberty.
