Bengal's transport minister Madan Mitra was today denied bail in the Saradha chit fund case, on a day he apparently fell down in the jail bathroom, was found to have high blood pressure and admitted to SSKM hospital in Kolkata.

The Congress on Friday gave the go-ahead to Manoj Chakraborty, Congress minister in the West Bengal government, to quit the Mamata Banerjee ministry after calling her a "dictator." The Congress has allowed Manoj Chakraborty to resign, state Congress president Pradip Bhattacharjee quoted Congress general secretary Shakeel Ahmed as saying.
