Two people died and more than 80 were hurt Thursday when at least 100 vehicles collided on a Texas highway in dense fog, leaving trucks twisted on top of each other and authorities rushing to pull survivors from the wreckage.

Authorities say dozens of people are injured, at least four critically, in a pileup of some 50 vehicles in Southeast Texas. Jefferson County Sheriff's Department Deputy Rod Carroll says two cars caught fire but that nobody died in the chain-reaction collisions that started around 5.45 am on Thursday on Highway 73 west of Port Arthur.
