Seven people who formed a red sandalwood smuggling gang taking inspiration from Allu Arjun movie 'Pushpa' were arrested from Mathura, sources from the Special Task Force (STF) said here today.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Monday seized 14.63 metric tonnes of red sanders worth Rs 11.70 crore in the international market from a consignment kept in an Inland Container Depot (ICD) on the outskirts of Ahmedabad in Gujarat.

A Sri Lankan Airlines flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Colombo was recalled after it left on Tuesday and three passengers were later taken off and booked for smuggling red sandalwood, an official said.
