• Send back Lankan defence personnel: Jayalalithaa to Prime Minister

  Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms Jayalalithaa has asked the Prime Minister to halt an ongoing training programme to two Sri Lankan defence personnel at the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington near Ooty.

• Boy dies in school swimming pool in Chennai, PMK demands arrest of Correspondent

  A class four student died in the swimming pool of a well known school in Chennai during practice. The police have arrested five people including the physical trainer (PT) of the school.

• One killed in Tamil Nadu police encounter

  One person was shot dead in a police encounter in Tirunelvelli district of Tamil Nadu. According to initial reports, a police inspector, who raided an illegal sand quarry near Nanguneri, opened fire in self-defence and killed an alleged gangster. The gangster has been identified as Vanavamalai.
