Kabir Suman, an MP from Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress, has parodied a Rabindranath Tagore song as a biting comment on the chief minister. Mr Suman's song focuses on the arrest of a farmer who asked the chief minister Ms Banerjee a tough question at a rally last week. Mr Suman has been estranged from his party.

In addition to Rabindranath Tagore songs, pedestrians and motorists in the city are now being treated to a song glorifying the theme "Ma Mati Manush" at traffic intersections to commemorate the completion of the first year of the Mamata Banerjee government.
