India and Russia are set to sign a contract soon for the overhaul of three Mi-26 helicopters for the Indian Air Force, with Moscow also offering long-term maintenance service for IAF's Mi-17 choppers, a Russian official has said.

Ahead of Aero India, touted as Asia's biggest air show, aviation major Boeing has made it clear that it cannot wait indefinitely for the government to sign a deal for Apache attack helicopters and Chinook heavy lift choppers.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) today flew 70 civil administration personnel to the Kedarnath temple premises to clean the surroundings after the area was ravaged by the recent flash floods in Uttarakhand.

As rescue and relief operations in Uttarakhand gather pace, the Indian Air Force has deployed an Mi-26 - the largest helicopter in the world - to augment operations.
