On Tuesday, when the Lok Sabha passed the controversial land bill, the Congress and some other opposition parties were not present in the House. They had walked out, signalling to the government that they are united in their resolve to not let its key reforms pass the Rajya Sabha test.

After Budget, Government to Introduce Bills to Replace Six Ordinances

The government is set to introduce six bills to replace a set of Ordinances in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of Parliament, this week. Three bills - the coal bill, the Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill and the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill - will be placed in the Lok Sabha today.

20 villages in Chhattisgarh have come together against government's plans to allow coal mining in dense forest areas of Chattishgarh, The Central Government has taken the ordinance route after the Supreme court cancelled allocations of 204 coal block by the UPA Government citing irregularities.
