The newly installed Tsunami Early Warning System Siren will be tested in Mumbai on October 26. The test will be conducted between 12:00-12:10 pm on October 26 near INS Angre, SBS Marg, Mumbai, a Defence spokesperson said today.

There were no signs of deadly waves, however, or serious damage, and a watch for much of the Indian Ocean was lifted after a few hours.

Nearly four hours after a powerful earthquake struck Indonesia today, India has finally withdrawn the tsunami warning that was generated earlier. A second round of tremors was felt in India in cities like Kolkata and Chennai at 4.25 pm, but there was no tsunami threat from those aftershocks.
