Five months after internet was axed in Jammu and Kashmir, wireline broadband internet has finally been restored at Srinagar's GB Pant hospital, the biggest children's hospital in Kashmir. On Thursday, the government said they have restored wireline broadband internet in 80 government hospitals.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has transferred the Medical Superintendent of the GB Pant Hospital, where 44 babies have died in the last two weeks. The action comes after a preliminary probe found the hospital allegedly lacking in manpower, equipment and overall management.

Another baby died today at the state-run GB Pant Hospital in Srinagar, taking the number of infant deaths in the state in the last two weeks to 36. According to Medical Education Minister RS Chib, a total of 358 children have died at the hospital since January 1 this year.
