The Booker Prize for fiction shortlist for 2024, announced on Monday, featured the largest-ever number of women authors in its 55-year history as well as its first Dutch author.

Indian-origin professor Dr Joyeeta Gupta received the prestigious Dutch Prize for her work in the field of climate change.

The University of Amsterdam statement said she was awarded for her outstanding, pioneering, and inspiring scientific work in which she focuses on a just and sustainable world.
