All diesel vehicle that will complete 10 years on January 1, 2022 will be deregistered by Delhi's transport department. Owners of said vehicles will be given a No Objection Certificate (NOC) allowing them to re-register the vehicle in other places.

Supreme Court Allows Above 2000cc Diesel Cars For Delhi - But With New Tax

Large diesel cars, mainly SUVs, can once again be sold in Delhi, the Supreme Court has said, but a green fine will have to be paid by manufacturers or dealers to compensate for polluting the city's air. The tax - 1% of the ex-showroom or retail price - must be deposited in a designated state-run bank, the top court said.

Supreme Court today reserved its verdict on petitions seeking modification in order banning registration of diesel-run SUVs and high-end cars with engine capacity of 2000CC and above in Delhi and NCR. The auto makers asked for such vehicles to be allowed again on payment of one per cent of ex-showroom price as green cess.

To combat the thick smog enveloping parts of Italy, Milan has imposed a 3 day ban on private vehicles from this Monday through Wednesday. Cars, bikes and scooters have all been banned for a daily duration of 6 hours between the hours of 10am and 4pm.
