Rajasthan govt likely to remove tainted ministers in bid to clean up image

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is under pressure from the Congress high command to clean the image of his government. He has had three rounds of meetings with Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi, who according to sources has told Mr Gehlot to remove the tainted ministers in his cabinet.

Trouble seems to be mounting for the Ashok Gehlot-led government in Rajasthan. Two weeks after nine people were killed in alleged police firing in Bharatpur during violent clashes between two communities, the National Minorities Commission (NCM) has found the administration responsible for the incident.

He has advised policemen in his state to respond aggressively if they are out-numbered in a mob situation, even if it means innocents getting injured during the police action.

Bharatpur violence: Postmortem reveals 3 killed in firing, 6 in mob clashes

Sources have told NDTV that postmortem reports of those killed in Bharatpur violence earlier this month have revealed that of the nine people killed, three died in police firing and the other six died in mob clashes.
