Baby Falak to be gradually weaned off ventilator

Doctors on Monday conducted the fifth lifesaving surgery on her after no infection was found present in her brain. Falak underwent a shunt surgery yesterday during which doctors connected her brain with the abdomen to help circulation of fluid in the whole body.

The next 48 hours are critical for Baby Falak, the two-year-old who was brought to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) two weeks ago with head injuries, fractures and human bite marks all over. She had a second brain surgery yesterday and doctors say she is critically ill, as they struggle to stall the spread of infections.
