Srinagar: A blast took place inside the residential compound of ruling PDP lawmaker in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir today, prompting the security personnel to fire a few rounds in retaliation.
Sources said suspected terrorists hurled a grenade towards the house of Aijaz Ahmad Mir, the lawmaker from Wachi constituency in south Kashmir.
The police personnel deployed on guard fired a few rounds in reaction to the blast, they said.
However, police officials said they were ascertaining the nature of the blast. There was no damage in terms of life or property in the incident, they said.
It was not clear whether the lawmaker was present at home when the incident took place.
