Rajnath Singh today visited the Siachen Army Base - the world's highest battlefield, on his first visit as the defence minister. He bonded with soldiers over Jalebis. He paid tribute to soldiers who died while serving in Siachen. Senior Army officers accompanied the Defence Minister on his first visit to the Siachen Army base.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited Siachen to review the security situation along the borders.
The Army briefed Rajnath Singh about routine operations, including air support provided by the Indian Air Force.
The Siachen base camp is at an average altitude of 20,000 feet. It is also one of the coldest battlefields in the world.
