The most prominent award ceremony for Telugu films, Telugu theater and television, Nandi Awards, are presented annually in Andhra Pradesh, India.
By its definition Nandi means bull, and the awards are named after the big granite bull at Lepakshi — a cultural and historical symbol of Andhra Pradesh.
The Nandi Awards are presented in four categories - Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Copper. A variant of the awards is the Nandi Natakotsavam Awards, which is awarded for theater and is also given every year by the Andhra Pradesh government for social, mythological and poetic dramas.
