Kurbaan, 2009: This Saif-Kareena starrer movie was set against the backdrop of global terrorism. Produced by Karan Johar and directed by Rensil D'Silva, the movie created a lot of hype before its release. But unfortunately, it bombed at box office.

New York, 2009: Yash Raj films moved away from the genre of romance and made New York starring John Abraham, Katrina Kaif and Neil Nitin Mukesh. The movie revolved around three students studying in New York, whose lives are affected post 9/11. The movie did fairly well at the box office.

Sikandar, 2009: Sikandar is a film about a young boy who dreams to play football for the National team. It's about his aspirations and challenges and how his life unfolds when one fine day he finds a gun on his way to school and what follows. The film deals with the exploitation and manipulation of innocent people in a place which has witnessed decades of violence and insurgency.

Aamir, 2008: This movie was a serious, fast-paced movie centered around the terrorism. Rajeev Khandelwal played the common man who wants to live his life, a man who wants to be left alone. But in the end turns out to be the hero.

A Wednesday, 2008: A Wednesday written and directed by Neeraj Pandey, depicts an about-to-retire police commissioner narrating a sequence of events that unfolded on a particular Wednesday and which do not exist in any written record, but only in his mind and in those of several individuals who were involved in it, both willingly and unwillingly. It stars Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah in lead roles.

Zameen, 2003: Zameen tackled the question of Indo-Pak terrrorism with a story based on a real life hijacking which took place in 1999 of the IA Airbus to Kandahar after which the passengers were set free in exchange of imprisoned militants Masoor Azhar, Omar Sheikh and Mushtaq Zargar.

Dil Se, 1998: Made seven years after the assassination of Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi by a female suicide bomber, Dil Se followed the story of an idealistic and naive journalist, Amar (Shah Rukh Khan), who unknowingly falls head-over-heels obsessed with a gloomy and mysterious woman, Meghna.

Sarfarosh, 1999: Directed by John Matthew Matthan, Sarfarosh was a huge commercial success and had also got critical acclaim. Starring Aamir Khan and Naseeruddin Shah in the main lead, the movie dealt with an Indian police officer's fight to stop cross-border terrorism. The film was released at the time of the Kargil conflict when tensions between India and Pakistan were high.
