Hrithik, Priyanka unveil the theatrical trailer of Agneepath

Hrithik Roshan unveiled the new and rocking trailer of the upcoming movie Agneepath, set to hit theaters next month.

Sanjay Dutt is all set to scare you as new age Kancha Cheena in the remake of hit film Agneepath. The role was originally played by veteran actor Danny Denzongpa and now it remains to be seen if our Munnabhai can elevate it to the next level.

Hrithik will step into the shoes of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, the intense crime baron with a golden heart immortalised by the Big B.

Priyanka Chopra will reportedly play Hrithik's love interest in the film; it remains to be seen if it is similar to that of the leading lady in the original, Madhavi.

The new and 'improved' Agneepath completely does away with Mithun Chakraborty's comical coconut-selling character Krishnan Iyer MA, who saves Vijay's life.

While the original is synonymous with a dapper looking Amitabh in a white suit, and 'killer' aviator sunglasses, Hrithik gives us a more colourful first look.

Hrithik shows off his toned muscles in a red vest, a pair of jeans and a bandana, which reads "Govinda Mahautsav". It is an intense look, where the red colour flying about adds a sinister touch.

Similarly, for Danny's heinous character, the cravat wearing Kancha will be seen as a little rough around the edges for the Dutt adaptation, like a modern day goon.

KJo says that this new age remake of Agneepath will release on Lohri, Jan 13, 2012.

Will Karan Johar succeed in his remake of the legendary classic, or will it sink into the abyss like Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag? That is something we will just have to wait and find out.

"I'm not Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, I'm simply Vijay," Hrithik Roshan had asserted of his character in the film adding that he has not emulated Amitabh Bachchan's character from the original film.

The actor said that he was guided by the director (Karan Malhotra's) script and vision. He also said that besides the poem from Harivansh Rai Bachchan, which features in the original Agneepath, little else has been retained.

Both the Karan's — producer Karan Johar and director Karan Malhotra — had unanimously envisioned Hrithik for the role of Vijay and it was K Jo who convinced Hrithik to come aboard the project.

The superstar, who is usually a bundle of nerves before any of his film's release, has been reassured by the positive reactions to the first look of the film, which was posted on the Dharma Productions fan page.

Hrithik, who hadn't celebrated Gokulashatami on-screen before, thanked his producer and director for giving him a chance to do so.

The actor had never climbed a human pyramid before and was thrilled to get the opportunity to do so in this film.

The bald and menacing look of the new Kancha Cheena, played by Sanjay Dutt, had made waves earlier and we get to see more of the wild side of his character in the new stills from the film.

The character Kancha Cheena was played by Danny Denzongpa in the original 1990 film, and looked completely different from Dutt's character in the new film.

With a bald head and a chunky ear piercing, even Sanjay Dutt looks miles apart from the baddy characters he has played on screen so far.

Priyanka Chopra also stars in the film. She plays the role of Kaali.

"The new Agneepath is first and foremost an intense love story,” producer Karan Johar had said while unveiling his project earlier this year. He had also said that there is an "unparalleled intensity" between Hrithik and Priyanka in the film.

Rishi Kapoor will also been seen playing a negative character in the film. The 58-year-old plays a Muslim character in the film and will be seen wearing kohl (kajal) in his eyes, a karakul cap and kurta-pajama.
